Ancillary Task - Newspaper Advert Logo
Here are some screenshots of my editing and designing of my own logo that I can use for a channel. I have had to do this as channel 4 denied me the right to use their logo. I am still creating a documentary for the target audience and type of product for the channel 4 genre - however, I am renaming it programme 4 and designing a logo in order to have some connection between my products.

Ancillary Tasks - Sketches and Planning of Newspaper Advert
Here are a few quick sketches of me deciding which layouts I liked the best for my newspaper advert. Practicing which ones looked more appealing to the eye in comparison to normal adverts and research I have done.

Ancillary Task - Channel 4 Response
Unfortunately Channel 4 have said I am not allowed to use the logo anywhere on my coursework products. I am going to have to think about creating my own spin or take on a similar logo, using a completely different one or not using one at all.
Ancillary Task - Making Of Newspaper Advert
Although Channel 4 had not got back to me yet, I decided to practice with the logo anyway and get ideas for the layout of my newspaper advert and how to make it work. Below are a few screenshots of the different processes and stages I went through to create some ideas and options for my ancillary task.

Anicllary Task - Channel 4 Logo Permission Request

I decided that it may be suitable to have the channel 4 logo as part of my ancillary tasks in order to create a target audience and link the two anicllary tasks together with recognisable icons and features. In order to do so - I had to contact channel 4 directly to ask for copyright permission so that I could use it. I am now waiting for a response as to their decision.

Ancillary Task - Making + Final Newspaper Double Page Spread
Here are a few screen shots of different tools and techniques I used to create the first draft of my ancillary task - a newspaper double page spread. I decided to go with this picture as my background as it already had the right hand side out of focus and the word youth appears a couple of times on the leaflets to the left of the picture. Fitting in with the theme and the blur giving me somewhere to write. I decided to add a gausian blur to the right hand side of the photograph and blend it in with the clone stamp tool. This was so that I could add the text on this part of the photograph. I had to decide what colour font would go over the photograph and stand out well enough for it to be read. The below screenshot shows how I used the clone stamp tool in order to get rid of the obvious blur line.
This screenshot shows how I used the paragraph tool in order to arrange the layout of my text. This included getting rid of the option to have words hyphenated. I felt that this did not look neat enough and was untidy. I wanted all the words to finish at the end of the sentence rather than be cut off - this would be more appealing to the eye. I also decided to use white as the colour of the font as this was the easiest colour to read on the blurred background. I also kept the same text throughout to keep up the continuity of the page and product.
This is the final draft product of my ancillary task that I have created. As you can see I have changed my title from the one that I previously worked on. Once it was placed on the page I felt it looked out of place and did not suit the piece of work. I however kept the same font but created a black and white quite traditional looking title. I felt this fitted with the colours in the photograph that I chose for the background.

Ancillary Task - Font for Newspaper Double Page
Following the photoshoot I took the photograph I wanted to use and some of the fonts and placed them on the photo to choose the one I thought looked the best.
