Evaluation Question 3

From my audience feedback I started to learn how exactly my 3 products, particularly my documentary clip were perceived by my target audience. The majority of my feedback was positive and they all had good things to say about my products. However, some did suggest ways in which to change it or improve it.

Positive feedback included things such as ; the following where Alex Rivers,  has said she likes the introduction and opening to the clip. I got quite a lot of feedback from my audience on this particular part of my documentary product. From this I started to get an idea of what my target audience liked and worked well. I also started to gain a lot of feedback from my audience about the use of cut away shots whilst the interview carried on. I knew that this would appeal to any audience well as it is a recognised convention of a documentary. Following my research and feedback throughout the production of my documentary clip I knew it was important to use conventions - an audience is more likely to engage and respond well to something that they are used to or can associate with. Something I learnt through asking peers and friends when making my documentary if they liked the style of documentary I was creating, or if they felt the features worked well together and did not clash or cause too much fuss on the screen.

Some of the negative feedback I received throughout the construction of my products I used to improve, alter and make them more appealing to the target audience in order to achieve the best possible result.

However, Alex also went on to give me constructive criticism (something I received throughout my construction and felt was necessary to create my products) about the quality of sound in the documentary. This helps me to learn that it may have been important to use Audacity more effectively, by perhaps learning to use parts of the programme better by following online tutorials and generally improving my skills as they were only limited. As my interviews were shot with a camera and one point mic in one room and my voiceovers recorded with a stand alone mic in another room the background noise and echo differed. Retrospectively I should have perhaps recorded the questions over the top and fitted them in, in order to improve the noise levels and sound. This would make it clearer and easier for the audience to listen too. It may also make the documentary easier to engage with, having poor sound in some areas may cause the audience to lose interest or touch with the subject at hand and what is going on.
